Trust the Journey: Finding Peace in the Unknown
If you're like most people, you'd probably like to know how everything is going to turn out before taking the first step. I know I've felt that way.
When life changes unexpectedly or we're standing at the edge of something new, our natural instinct is to seek certainty. We want reassurance that every decision is the right one and that the path ahead will unfold exactly as we hope. But life rarely gives us that kind of certainty. Instead, it offers something quieter. It invites us to trust.
Trust Doesn't Mean Standing Still
Sometimes people think trusting means waiting. I've learned it's just the opposite. Trust means taking the next right step, even when you can't yet see the entire path. It means continuing to move forward while releasing the need to control every outcome. That's not always easy.
Yet many of the most meaningful experiences in our lives begin with one small act of courage. Looking back, we often realize that the moments we feared the most became the very experiences that shaped us, strengthened us, and led us somewhere we never expected.
Listening to Your Inner Wisdom
One reason we struggle to trust is because the world is full of opinions. Everyone seems to have advice about what we should do. Sometimes those voices become so loud that we forget to listen to our own. Our inner wisdom rarely shouts. It speaks quietly. It becomes easier to hear when we slow down. When we create moments of stillness.
When we stop demanding immediate answers.
As I wrote in the guide,
"Your inner wisdom is often quiet. It becomes easier to hear when you slow down, create moments of stillness, and listen without expecting immediate answers."
Looking Back with Gratitude
One of my favorite reflection exercises is to look back at difficult seasons of my life and ask,
"What did this experience teach me?"
More often than not, I discover gifts I couldn't see while I was living through them. That doesn't mean every experience is easy. Many times, the challenges were quite difficult and scary. When looking back, I saw that I had learned something, usually about myself that I would have never known.Sometimes trust grows not by looking ahead, but by recognizing how we've already been guided.
One Step Is Enough
We often believe we need the whole plan before we begin. But life asks for something much simpler. One step.
One conversation. One decision. One act of courage. The next step has a way of revealing the one that follows.
